Extension terms

These terms apply if you build an extension for Equipe or use the app.equipe.com API. By creating an extension you agree to them.

The short version: an extension receives real personal data about real riders. Take only what you need, use it only for what you told us, delete it when the show is done, and tell us quickly if it leaks.

What your extension receives

An installed extension is given an API key for that show and receives the events it subscribes to. Those events can include people and horses, so assume you are handling personal data from the first webhook.

The organizer who installs your extension appoints you directly. You are their processor, not ours, and you are responsible to them for what you do with the data.

Handling data

  • Only ask for the access you need, and only use the data for the purpose you told us about. If that purpose changes, tell us before you change it.
  • Take what the API gives you and nothing else. Working around it to reach data you were not granted is not allowed, even where it is technically possible.
  • Do not sell the data and do not pass it on to anyone else.
  • Delete the organizer's data when your extension is uninstalled, and when they ask you to.
  • Keep it safe. If it leaks, tell us and the organizer within 24 hours.
  • Publish a privacy policy that says what you do with the data, and keep it reachable at the address you registered.
  • If you use your own subprocessors, they must be bound by terms no weaker than these.
  • Keep your API key and webhook secret secret. Rotate them if they are exposed.

What extensions may not do

  • Replicate or directly compete with what Equipe already provides, including online.equipe.com. Extensions should add something, not duplicate what is there.
  • Contain malicious or harmful code, or anything that compromises the security or stability of Equipe.
  • Infringe anyone's intellectual property.
  • Put an unreasonable load on our infrastructure.

Quality

Extensions should be stable, should stay compatible with the current version of Equipe, and should fail gracefully when we are unavailable. Test them before a show rather than during one.

Review

Submit your extension to us before you distribute it. We review every one and we may approve or reject it. If we reject it we will tell you why and what would change our mind.

If you break these terms

We may remove your extension, and for repeated or serious breaches we may withdraw your access to Equipe's developer resources. Where a breach puts personal data at risk we will act immediately and tell the organizers affected.

Changes

We may update these terms. We will update the date at the top, and we will tell registered developers before a change that affects them takes effect.
